Therefore, a GPU that supports the Metal graphics API is essential for an optimal out of the box experience. MoltenVK is a Vulkan to Metal abstraction layer which converts Vulkan API calls to Metal. This is because Vulkan is the default video driver, which in turn relies on MoltenVK.

Your GPU should at least support the Apple Metal 2 graphics API.

It is technically possible to try to run it on a version as low as macOS 10.11 (El Capitan), but in order to use it with all features reliably working we’d recommend 10.13 or later.

Your Mac should be running macOS 10.13 (High Sierra) or later.
